Seizures could not have saved 119 million lives. That is nearly 40 times the number of Americans who die of all causes in a year; drug overdoses of every kind killed about 77,000 people in the year to March 2025.
In the 12 months ending March 2025, the CDC counted 77,064 drug overdose deaths in the United States, 44,643 of them involving synthetic opioids other than methadone (mainly fentanyl), and 3,115,006 deaths from all causes (CDC National Center for Health Statistics, provisional drug overdose death counts).
