What did Donald Trump claim about immigration on 5 Feb 2024?
Donald Trump, Former President of the United States and Republican presidential candidate ·
Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day
The bill let the Homeland Security secretary switch on its border emergency authority at a 7-day average of 4,000 encounters a day; 5,000 was the level at which using it became mandatory.
The text of the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 (Senate amendment SA 1386 to H.R. 815, Congressional Record, Feb. 5, 2024) says 'The Secretary may activate the border emergency authority if, during a period of 7 consecutive calendar days, there is an average of 4,000 or more aliens who are encountered each day', and must activate it at 5,000 (Congressional Record).
