The sanctions were not all lifted. A month after the debate, Treasury expanded sanctions on Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors under orders Trump himself signed in 2018 and 2020.
On October 11, 2024, the Treasury Department expanded sanctions on Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors under Executive Order 13902 and designated 10 entities and 17 vessels under Executive Order 13846 (U.S. Treasury). Both are sanctions orders Trump signed, in 2018 and 2020 (Federal Register, 83 FR 38939 and 85 FR 2003).
