What did Donald Trump claim about their own life story on 30 Sep 2026?
Donald Trump, President of the United States ·
I'm the only President—they say they think George Washington maybe—but I'm the only President that donated his salary.
At least two presidents gave their pay away before him. Herbert Hoover kept his salary in a separate account and gave it to charity and to underpaid aides, and John F. Kennedy gave his entire $100,000 presidential salary to charity.
The National Archives' Herbert Hoover Presidential Library wrote that Trump 'will not be the first person as president to forego a salary. The first was Herbert Hoover and the second was John F. Kennedy', and that 'John F. Kennedy gave his entire $100,000 salary to charity.' (Hoover Presidential Library blog, National Archives, Nov. 15, 2016)
