The SAVE America Act is so important. It's so good. It's voter ID. It's, you know, basic—it's your basics about a democracy: voter ID, birthplace. You have to be born in the United States to vote.
The bill doesn't require being born in the U.S. Its list of accepted proof of citizenship for registering to vote includes naturalization certificates.
The SAVE America Act as passed by the House on Feb. 11, 2026 (as an amendment to S. 1383) lists the documents that count as proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration, and they include a Naturalization Certificate or Certificate of Citizenship issued by the Secretary of Homeland Security (Engrossed Amendment of the House to S. 1383, govinfo).
