What did Paul Wolfowitz predict about war in March 2003?
Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense ·
the oil revenues of that country could bring between 50 and 100 billion dollars over the course of the next two or three years. Now, there are a lot of claims on that money, but that's — we're not dealing with Afghanistan that's a permanent ward of the international community. We are dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction and relatively soon.
U.S. spent over $60B rebuilding Iraq
Wolfowitz said Iraq's oil money could finance its own reconstruction, relatively soon. By 2012 the U.S. had made more than $60 billion available for rebuilding Iraq.
By the end of fiscal year 2012, more than $60 billion in U.S. funds had been appropriated or otherwise made available for Iraq relief and reconstruction (Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, Federal Register, Sept. 24, 2013).
