Did Buddy Carter vote the way they spoke on climate and energy in August 2024?
Buddy Carter, U.S. Representative (R-GA-01) ·
As Members of the House Republican Conference, we write to urge you to prioritize business and market certainty as you consider efforts that repeal or reform the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). … Prematurely repealing energy tax credits, particularly those which were used to justify investments that already broke ground, would undermine private investments and stop development that is already ongoing. A full repeal would create a worst-case scenario where we would have spent billions of taxpayer dollars and received next to nothing in return. Energy tax credits have spurred innovation, incentivized investment, and created good jobs in many parts of the country - including many districts represented by members of our conference.

Carter voted against the Inflation Reduction Act. In August 2024, as Republicans weighed repealing or reforming the IRA, he signed a letter to the Speaker saying energy tax credits had 'spurred innovation, incentivized investment, and created good jobs' and urging that they not be prematurely repealed, particularly those behind investments that had already broken ground. The letter also called the IRA 'a deeply flawed bill' and asked to keep the credits it saw as making the country more energy independent.
