Did John Cornyn vote the way they spoke on January 6 in February 2021?
John Cornyn, U.S. Senator (R-TX) ·
The 1/6 attack on the Capitol was horrific & appalling. Those who planned & participated in the violence that day should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I agree w/Speaker Pelosi – a 911-type investigation is called for to help prevent this from happening again.
Voted Nay, 28 May 2021
Cornyn wrote in February 2021 that a 9/11-type investigation of January 6 was called for. In May he voted against advancing the bill to create one.
Cornyn wrote that a 9/11-type investigation of the January 6 attack was called for, then voted against advancing the bill that would have created a commission modeled on the 9/11 Commission. He later said Speaker Pelosi was going to use the commission as a political weapon.
