Did Ashley Hinson vote the way they spoke on January 6 in January 2021?
Ashley Hinson, U.S. Representative (R-IA-01) ·
I just voted for @RodneyDavis’s bill to establish a bipartisan, national commission to investigate the attack on the Capitol last week. I proudly cosponsored this bill— it is the best way to get to the bottom of exactly what occurred last week & ensure it never happens again.
Voted Nay, 19 May 2021
Hinson cosponsored a January 6 commission bill, calling a bipartisan commission the best way to find out what happened. In May 2021 she voted against the bill creating one, citing ongoing Justice Department, Homeland Security and FBI investigations.
Hinson posted that a bipartisan national commission to investigate the January 6 attack was the best way to find out what happened, and said she had cosponsored a bill to create one. She then voted against H.R. 3233, the bill creating a bipartisan commission on the attack, which passed the House 252-175. Her statement on the vote said she supported a nonpartisan investigation, but she would not vote to launch the commission while the Justice Department, Homeland Security and the FBI had ongoing investigations.
