Nancy Mace, U.S. Representative (R-SC) ·
You either have XX or XY chromosomes. Those are the options.
Not everyone has XX or XY sex chromosomes. Males with Klinefelter syndrome, for example, are XXY.
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development says males with Klinefelter syndrome have an extra X chromosome, 'making them XXY,' and that in very rare cases males might have 'two or more extra X chromosomes in their cells (e.g., XXXY, XXXXY) or an extra Y (e.g., XXYY)' (NICHD, About Klinefelter Syndrome).
