James Comey leaked CLASSIFIED INFORMATION to the media. That is so illegal!
The Inspector General found no evidence that James Comey or his lawyers gave the media any classified information, and the FBI found the memo he shared was not classified.
The Justice Department Inspector General investigated Comey's handling of his memos. The report states that the FBI determined the memo whose contents Comey shared, through a friend, with a reporter did not contain classified information, and the Inspector General found 'no evidence that Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the Memos to members of the media' (DOJ OIG, Report of Investigation of Former FBI Director James Comey's Disclosure of Sensitive Investigative Information, August 2019).
