What did Donald Trump claim about law on 3 Jul 2026?
Donald Trump, President of the United States ·
It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for “fixing their car.”
Most weren't headed to prison. Six of the nine Clean Air Act pardons that day went to people sentenced only to probation, and the longest prison term among the other three was just over a year.
The Justice Department's list of the July 3, 2026 pardons shows that six of the individuals pardoned that day for Clean Air Act offenses, Timothy Clancy, Joshua Davis, Ryan LaLone, Wade LaLone, Aaron Rudolf and Mackenzie Spurlock, had been sentenced to probation, and the other three, Jonathan Achtemeier, Barry Pierce and Matthew Geouge, to prison terms of four months, four months, and 12 months and one day, imposed between June 23, 2022 and February 14, 2025 (DOJ Office of the Pardon Attorney).
