What did Donald Trump claim about investigations on 27 Jan 2020?
Donald Trump, President of the United States ·
The Democrat controlled House never even asked John Bolton to testify.
The House did ask. The impeachment committees invited Bolton to a deposition on November 7, 2019; his lawyer replied that he was 'not willing to appear voluntarily', and he did not come.
The House Intelligence Committee's report states that 'On October 30, the Committees sent a letter to the personal attorney of Ambassador John Bolton ... seeking his appearance at a deposition on November 7', that his attorney replied 'Ambassador Bolton is not willing to appear voluntarily', and that 'On November 7, Ambassador Bolton did not appear for the scheduled deposition' (H. Rept. 116-335, The Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Inquiry Report, p. 196).
