What did Donald Trump claim about law on 1 Jul 2023?
Donald Trump, Former President of the United States and Republican presidential candidate ·
I had absolute right to have them. Joe Biden didn't and Mike Pence didn't, and neither did certain other people that weren't presidents because they were not covered by the Presidential Records Act of 1978.
Wrong. The 1978 Presidential Records Act says vice presidential records are covered the same way as presidential records, so Biden and Pence, as vice presidents, were covered.
The Presidential Records Act, enacted in 1978, provides that 'Vice-Presidential records shall be subject to the provisions of this chapter in the same manner as Presidential records' (44 U.S.C. 2207).
