What did Donald Trump claim about law on 15 Aug 2024?
Donald Trump, Republican presidential nominee ·
And as you know, the Supreme Court ruled recently on immunity, and I'm immune from all of this stuff that they charge me with.
The Supreme Court did not make him immune from all of it. It found immunity only for official acts, none for unofficial ones, and sent his election case back without dismissing any charge.
The Supreme Court's immunity decision recognized immunity only for official acts, held that "the President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts," said Trump "asserts a far broader immunity than the limited one we have recognized," and sent the federal election case back to the lower courts rather than dismissing any charge (Trump v. United States, No. 23-939, July 1, 2024).
