What did Donald Trump claim about law on 26 Dec 2016?
Donald Trump, President-elect of the United States ·
The DJT Foundation, unlike most foundations, never paid fees, rent, salaries or any expenses. 100% of money goes to wonderful charities!
The Foundation did pay for other things. Trump admitted its money settled legal obligations of his companies and bought a $10,000 portrait of him, and a court ordered him to pay $2 million.
In a 2019 settlement with New York's attorney general, Trump admitted that the Foundation's money had been used to settle legal obligations of companies he controlled and to pay $10,000 for a portrait of him, and the court ordered him to pay $2 million for misusing Foundation funds in the 2016 primaries (New York Attorney General, Nov. 7, 2019). The attorney general's 2018 petition listed among those payments $158,000 to settle claims against his Trump National Golf Club in 2008 (New York Attorney General, June 14, 2018).
