Donald Trump, President of the United States ·
So I passed a regulation. I signed a regulation that give the dishwashers much more water.
No such regulation existed yet. The Energy Department's dishwasher rule was published October 30, 2020, almost three months after he spoke, and it set no water limits.
The Energy Department's final rule on dishwashers was signed on October 19, 2020 and published on October 30, 2020, almost three months after these remarks. It took effect on November 30, 2020. It created a product class for dishwashers with a normal cycle of 60 minutes or less and set no water limits. DOE said it would set those 'in a separate rulemaking' (DOE, 85 FR 68723).
